I have enjoyed visiting Halsema computer sites.

I believe I am related to Rembertha & William Stok.

My great, great grandfather, Raymond, was married to Remberta DeHaan.

My great grandfather's, Johannes, brother was named William. I believe Johannes was born in Eenrum. I believe my grandfather, Nicholas, was born in Kloosterburen.

I hope to visit Groningen within 9 months.

Hi, I just found out yesterday that Doug, Paul and I are 5th cousins, awesome. My father was Florence Edward(Bunk) Leonardi, he had two brothers Ted and Buddy and 1 sister, Geraldine. My grandmother was Minnie Hogan and I am so excited to find more family. My dad died in 1978 and I would love to keep in touch with all the family. I remember when I was about 3 years old, we went to Florida and visited with an aunt of my dads, believe he called her Aunt Kitty, can't really remember, any information would be great. Thanks and please email me with any questions. I was raised in Texas but now live in South Dakota.

I am excited to find so many cousins! I am related to Rogue Leonardi, he is a grandfather. My great grandmother was Ellen (Ella) Louisa Leonardi who married George Wesley Meares. My grandmother was Agnes Myrtle Meares. I have been researching the Meares lineage for years and have much information that can be added here if there is an interest. I truely enjoy this site and am thankful for all the information that I have been able to add to my tree. The documentation is some of the best I've located and the internet to date. The Meares branch holds a family reunion every year and would love to have the Leonardi's join us. If anyone is interested please feel free to contact me at the above email.

Parts of my website are mentioned in several places on HALSEMA.ORG
Unfortunately the site has had to move a couple of times, but it now has a permanent place at http://ketelaars.ca.
I am Canadian, living near Toronto, and most of the American Halsemas are descended from my great-great-great-grandparents.
Doug and Paul Halsema, the webmasters of this website, halsema.org are my third cousins. My wife, Catherine Halsema is our 5th cousin.
Catherine's parents, Jacob Halsema and Johanna Amsing never knew that they were related to each other: they were 4th cousins to each other: I find the Halsema Genealogy utterly faschinating. Their ancestral lines cross at the most unexpected places.

Hello,

I ran across your web site today while searching for information about my Leonardy ancestors. You have some great information on the site! I have some information compiled by my great uncle (we called him Uncle Brown, but his full name was Stephen Browning Waite). According to this I am a descendant of George Bonifacio Leonardy. According to my information, George and Cora Irwin had the following children: Edna, Rita, Clarence and Annie. Rita Leonardy was my grandmother, she married Leon Masters Waite, Jr. (born 2/4/1907) in Jacksonville, FL on 4/15/1928. They are both buried in Mobile, AL.

Leon Waite (Leon Masters Waite IV)

I was fascinated by your web site when sifting through the various links correspoding to a search 'leonardi+garfagnana' assume that we must have a common family member, although I do not have any precise information prior to the late 1800's
As per transcripts received through family members dating from 1931, my ancestors lived in a town near Castelnuovo but the exact name was not mentionned. According to these transcripts, sometime in the 18th c. our branch of the family moved east into the Apennine mountains to a town called Pievepelago to escape what the author mention as the 'plague'. The family members were referred to as 'Toschi' since they were from the Tuscan province of Lucca by the locals. The first members of my specific branch came to the Chicago in the very late 1800 - early 1900. Other direct members of the the family remained and remain in Pievepelago and migrated to a town near Castelnuovo named Barga
Congratulations on the work you have done

Edit
We have a large (44 inches tall by 54.5 inches wide) oil painting of 3 peach-colored lilies that is signed S.Halsema'75. The story we were told was that the artist was a cab-driver in San Francisco during the 1970s. Does anyone have information that might help us find the artist?

Richard and Sharon Stevens

The above message was posted in 2003. We will be donating this painting to a charitable organization in July of this year if we have not found the artist or a relative that would like this painting. We no longer have a place to display it. We would really like it to be returned to the artist or a family member.

Hi,

My name is Louis Huizenga and as a kid I lived in Kleine Huisjes, Dijksterweg 42. This is only stone's throw away from "Halsum".

In one of your modern maps you have labeled the wrong road as Feddemaweg. The correct one is the one to the left (going north from Kleine Huisjes). On that map you have not marked Feddemaheerd. The original farmhouse (or "heerd") is still there but the old barns have been replaced in modern times.

Regards,
Louis Huizenga

My grandmother was Mary Leonardi, her other children were Alban and Ruth. My mother was born in St Augustine Florida on June 22, 1905 I believe. Anyone with any information on her would be greatly appreciated.
